Description
Metal wire gauze packing consists of arranged wire mesh pieces pressed into corrugation, typically at angles of 45° or 60°, with adjacent pieces oriented in opposite directions. These mesh pieces are secured by nailing or using rings to adhere to the walls of the column. This innovative structure enhances the liquid distribution, significantly improving mass transfer efficiency. The capillary effect generated by the metal wire gauze packing creates a highly wettable surface, particularly beneficial for low-surface-tension liquids, resulting in excellent mass transfer performance, even at very low liquid flow rates.
We offer a diverse selection of metal wire gauze packings, available in materials such as SS304, SS304L, SS316, SS316L, and more.
Key Specifications

- 250(AX): Precision distillation for high production capacity and fewer theoretical plates.
- 500(BX): Vacuum distillation, ideal for thermally sensitive systems and challenging separation processes, especially suitable for systems with a pressure greater than 7 kPa.
- 700(CY): Separation of isotopic and isomeric compounds.
With these advanced packing materials, we ensure that your distillation processes are optimized for performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Benefits of Metal Wire Gauze Packing
- High Efficiency: The superior efficiency of wire mesh packing allows for the use of smaller diameter columns, resulting in reduced costs for structures, foundations, installations, insulation, and piping.
- Flexible Operation: Thanks to the capillary movement of liquids across the wire filaments, this packing maintains high efficiency even under decreasing load, enabling the system to operate across a wide range of capabilities.
- Easy Replacement: Wire gauze packing can easily replace existing packing materials in older columns. This upgrade not only boosts efficiency but also reduces operational costs, improves product quality, increases production capacity, and lowers pressure drop.
Applications
Metal wire gauze packing is ideal for a variety of applications, including fine chemicals, flavors manufacturing, and isomer separation. It is particularly effective for the separation of thermally sensitive materials, testing towers, and the enhancement of existing towers.
Types of Metallic Structured Packings
- Perforated & Corrugated Plates: These packings include different variations such as pricked and corrugated plates or annular corrugated plates.
